Message to Michael

This afternoon, the AP is reporting the fun, mercifully brief story below:

-----
'Fahrenheit 9/11' a Hit With Disney Chief
ASPEN, Colo. - Disney chief executive Michael Eisner has seen "Fahrenheit 9/11," the film that The Walt Disney Co. refused to distribute — and he liked it.

"The reason it is a hit is it's entertaining," Eisner said last week. "I thought it was like going to a rock concert. I loved it, but not in a political (sense)."

Eisner spoke at Fortune magazine's fourth annual Brainstorm conference, co-hosted by The Aspen Institute.

"Fahrenheit 9/11" criticizes President Bush (news - web sites)'s response to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and the war in Iraq (news - web sites). The documentary has filled theaters since its release in June, drawing a record-breaking gross of $94 million.

Eisner has said Disney decided not to distribute the film because its shareholders and customers do not expect it to be a partisan company.

Here is my thoughtful, reasoned response to Mr. E:

Fuck you.
Instead of trying to talk out of both sides of your mouth, why don't you just blow it out your ass?

Tokenism? Damage Control??

Hotly criticized for close corporate ties to President Bush, radio giant ClearChannel has signed an agreement to broadcast Air America Radio’s liberal-leaning programming on one of its stations in Miami.

These monopolistic, creativity devoid bastards own/run 1200ish stations throughout the country and seem to be in the back-pocket of the divise, hateful, Republican greed machine.

When they put Air Am on hundreds of stations, then they can start telling us how fair and open-minded they are. Until then, all they prove is that they are whores who have turned radio in this country to shit.

Female Ted Baxter?

I've already written of
my feelings about Amy Goodman.
I'm actually thinking of making a separate blog just to highlight all the words this clueless, provincial, Long Island mess mispronounces.

Listen to yesterday's newscast at the start of the program (one I appreciate and try to hear every morning). You'll hear Amy-bird mess up the way most of the world pronounces PETA and then a few minutes later be absolutely baffled by the word Aladdin.

She's still on an 80ish city tour vigorously flogging her book. When she does the show from someplace other than NYC (the absolute Mecca for people like Goodman), she'll announce the name of the city she's visiting 100 times during the show. Anyplace but NYC is apparently a far off land to provincial goofs like her.

Most of the time, the archived streaming audio of the show doesn't even work or drops out after the first minute or two. Nobody there seems to care. All that seems to matter is that they are in NYC and important. We expect so much better from these people. It's important work.
