Graffiti On History's Walls

Spend some time reading this excellent article from the 11/3/03 US News & World Report on the incredibly naive, trendy, liberal, anti-Israel sentiments we're seeing in far too many places these days.

The kind of ignorance and just barely-veiled anti-semitism we're seeing from people who should know much better is very scary.

The Return of Payola

Hey look: a new - yet old - way for broadcasters to whore themselves!

Laughing at the News

A new poll says a majority of Americans disapprove of President Bush's handling of the war in Iraq. Bush is not concerned. He says the last time the majority of Americans were against him he was elected President. (Jim Barach)

Conservative groups have successfully pressured CBS into killing it's planned miniseries "The Reagans," so now Republicans are now trying to get another long-running series that angers and embarrasses them taken off the air. It's called "News from Iraq." (Jacob Novak)

After losing the election, Mississippi's incumbent Governor Ronnie Musgrove made a conciliatory concession speech. Most impressive was Musgrove's offer to have the Governor's Mansion "all cleaned and gassed up" at least two weeks before Barbour moves into the Executive Trailer Park. (Novak)

Okay, now we can go back to being angry about it all.

I'm in Love, I'm in Love!

And this time, it's the real thing.

She's Jo Whiley, hostess of the midday show on BBC Radio 1.

Of course, she's married, famous, in another country, and doesn't know I exist, but I am still quite enamoured. Follow links above to listen to her as I do every morning online. Her 10am to 1pm show GMT works out to 4am to 7am CST, 5am to 8am EST.

What Price Fame?

Well, congratulations to Chris Wallace, the latest TV news idiot to sell his soul for a big money job at the Fox News channel. He thinks they really are "fair and balanced." Of course, when you wave enough money in the face of TV people whose main concern is money and how their hair looks, perceptions can be a bit distorted.

The Los Angeles Times and many other media outlets reported a few days ago that former Fox employee Charlie Reina would tend to disagree with Wallace. Here's Salon.com's story on the story.

Maybe He Just Can't Call

...and express condolences to the families of needlessly killed soldiers in Iraq*, because the phone keeps sliding away as a result all the blood on his hands.

Issue for Bush: Putting a happy spin on his continuing snub of dead soldiers
by Elisabeth Bumiller in today's NY Times.

*And, of course, please recall that most of these soldiers are the same age as the Bush daughters, presumably partying their brains out in Texas, oblivious to the rest of the world...just like mommy and daddy are and have always been.
