Gotta Laugh
Humourist Patrick M. Rhody on some fun items in the news...
"Fox News Channel is suing Al Franken because he used the words 'fair and balanced' in the title of his latest book. The conservative cable channel says it has a trademark on that phrase, and adds Franken is a 'parasite,' 'unstable,' 'shrill' and 'not a well-respected voice in American politics.' All of which means Franken is now qualified for his own program on Fox News Channel."
"Director Baz Luhrmann, who gave us the hit movie Moulin Rouge, is now holding a worldwide casting search for the star of his newest film, Alexander the Great. He's looking for an 8 or 9-year-old to play the young Alexander. To save time, Luhrmann is going to ask Michael Jackson if he can borrow his Rolodex."
"Libya has agreed to set up a $2-point-7-billion fund to compensate the families of the 270 people killed in the 1988 bombing of a Pan Am jet over Scotland. In a related story, Columbia Pictures has agreed to set up a $2,500 fund to compensate the 270 people who paid to see Gigli."
Clever stuff!
